Jewish Funeral and Cremation Care Across Suffolk County

Families throughout Suffolk County turn to Eden Memorial for the full range of Jewish funeral services, from traditional burial to cremation coordination. Our traditional Jewish funeral services include chapel services, graveside services, and full preparation according to Halacha, with Tahara and Shomer/Shmirah observed for every family who requests it.

For families who choose cremation, we arrange and coordinate every step with a licensed crematory partner. We do not operate an on-site crematory, and we coordinate closely with a rabbi so that cremation, when chosen, is handled with the same dignity and respect as a traditional burial.

Beyond burial and cremation, Suffolk County families rely on us for memorial services, pre planning and pre need arrangements, veterans services including burial flags, personalization such as tribute videos and livestreaming, and casket, urn, and keepsake selection. We also assist families who qualify for Medicaid guideline funerals, and we safeguard the fraternal cemetery maps and burial permits held by the Jewish Charitable Burial Society.

Whatever your family needs, when you are ready, our team is here to walk you through every option with care and transparency.

Why Suffolk County Families Choose Eden Memorial

Eden Memorial has served Jewish families across the New York and New Jersey area for over 30 years, and remains independent and family owned, an alternative to the corporate owned Jewish funeral chains that have absorbed many area funeral homes. In 2008, Barry Wien joined his lifelong friend Frank Patti, our Owner and Senior Director, and the Wien and Patti families became principals in both Eden Memorial and Eden Memorial Chapels of New York.

Frank Patti, Owner and Senior Director, and our funeral directors coordinate full Halachic care for Orthodox, Conservative, and Reform families alike, so every Suffolk County family receives guidance that matches their own level of observance. We also welcome interfaith families, and we coordinate worldwide shipping of remains and transfers to Israel for families who wish to bury a loved one in the Land of Israel.

With chapels in West Babylon and in Fort Lee, New Jersey, minutes from the George Washington Bridge, Eden Memorial gives Suffolk County families access to two full service chapels and a tri state network of Jewish cemeteries. Families who want to understand more about how a Jewish funeral is structured can review our overview of Jewish funeral customs before their first call.

About Suffolk County, New York

Suffolk County is the easternmost county in New York State, covering the eastern two thirds of Long Island. With a 2020 census population of more than 1.5 million people, it is the fourth most populous county in New York State and the most populous county outside the five boroughs of New York City. Suffolk is made up of ten towns, including Babylon, Islip, Huntington, and Smithtown. Its official county seat is Riverhead, though most county government offices are located in Hauppauge, closer to the county's more populous western towns.

Eden Memorial's own chapel sits inside Suffolk County, in West Babylon, a community within the Town of Babylon on the county's western edge. The Town of Babylon is home to more than 218,000 residents, and West Babylon itself is its largest hamlet, with a population of just over 43,000. This places us close to established Jewish communities in the towns of Babylon, Islip, Huntington, and Smithtown, and near the historic cemetery corridor that has served Long Island's Jewish families for generations.

The Wellwood Avenue Cemetery Corridor

Just outside our West Babylon chapel sits one of the most significant clusters of Jewish cemeteries on Long Island. Beth Moses Cemetery, Wellwood Cemetery, New Montefiore Cemetery, and Mount Ararat Cemetery sit side by side along Wellwood Avenue, alongside the Long Island National Cemetery and Pinelawn Memorial Park, in a long stretch of adjoining cemeteries.

New Montefiore Cemetery was established in 1928 on 250 acres purchased from the neighboring Pinelawn Cemetery, and today holds more than 150,000 graves. The Long Island National Cemetery, administered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, sits at the north end of the same corridor and holds more than 357,000 interments, a detail that matters to the many Suffolk County veterans and their families we serve.

Because Eden Memorial does not operate an on-site cemetery, we coordinate directly with each of these cemeteries on behalf of Suffolk County families, securing permits, working with the burial society that administers a family's section, and handling every arrangement so a family never has to contact the cemetery office directly.

Serving Every Community in Suffolk County

From our West Babylon chapel, Eden Memorial reaches Jewish families across western and central Suffolk County, in the Town of Babylon, the Town of Islip, the Town of Huntington, and the Town of Smithtown. We maintain dedicated pages for many of these communities, including:

We also serve families in Amityville, North Babylon, Bay Shore, Islip, Huntington, Commack, and Smithtown, and throughout the rest of Suffolk County, whether a family needs a chapel service, a graveside service at one of the Wellwood Avenue cemeteries, or help coordinating cremation.
