Sally Rosenthal, born on October 18, 1948, in Germany, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026, in New York. She was a beloved woman whose heart of gold shone brightly throughout her 77 years, touching the lives of all who had the good fortune to know her.
Sally’s life was enriched by a deep love for family and tradition. She cherished celebrating Jewish holidays with her loved ones, creating memories that will be treasured for generations. One of the sweetest remembrances is her affection for matzoh ball soup—especially her mother’s famous hard matzoh ball soup, a recipe and taste that remained close to her heart throughout her life.
She dedicated over 25 years of her career to Rockland Community College until her retirement in 2019, a testament to her commitment and steadfast work ethic. Yet, it was in moments with her family that Sally found her greatest joy. Whether enjoying time at the pool with her children and grandchildren or celebrating birthdays over dinners out, Sally loved these occasions dearly. She took great pride in hosting family dinners, always insisting on picking up the bill as a heartfelt gesture of love and generosity.
Sally’s legacy includes her beloved children: Brett Rosenthal, Stacey Maples, and Jessica Peskie; and her cherished sister, Jeanette Siconolfi. She is remembered fondly by all who knew her, and though she has passed from this world, her spirit lives on in them. She is preceded in death by her sister Helen Polansky and her parents, Israel and Rosa Unger.
A graveside service to honor Sally’s life will be held on June 7, 2026, from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Beth El Cemetery, located at 735 Forest Ave, Paramus, NJ 07652.
Sally Rosenthal’s warmth, her devotion to family, and her joyful spirit will be deeply missed but forever cherished. Her life was a beautiful tapestry of love, tradition, and kindness that will continue to inspire everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
