Professor Dianne E. Davis

Visionary global educator Prof. Dianne E. Davis passed away on September 13, 2025, in New York City. Over a career spanning seven decades, Prof. Davis was a fierce advocate for female empowerment in the food service industry and a pioneer in the fields of design for hospitality, healthcare, and education, with a particular focus on promoting intergenerational senior living communities for aging with grace, dignity, and vitality.

Dianne was the founder and president of the International Council for Caring Communities (ICCC), through which she organized many events around the world including international conferences at Windsor Castle and youth design competitions at the United Nations. Her initiatives established spaces for experts and young people worldwide to dialogue, innovate, and mentor in the field of aging and senior living.

Together with Dr. Albert Bush-Brown, Prof. Davis co-created the program “Better Living…Adding Life to Years,” which significantly shaped the global movement toward intentional design in hospitals and senior living communities. In these pursuits and in many others, Dianne was a compassionate leader, mentor and colleague to countless individuals around the world.

Dianne is survived by her sons Hal Scott (wife, Joan) and Samuel Lawrence (wife, Donna), and grandchildren Emma and Alexandre Jerard and brother, Shepard Ellenberg (wife, Jane).

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in her honor to: ICCC
