Medicaid Spend Downs

Did you know that irrevocable trust funds are not considered an asset in applying for Medicaid assistance?

If you are caring for an elderly person who is entering or residing in a nursing home and trying to qualify for Medicaid Assistance their assets must be $2000 or less to receive aid.  Medicaid will review their financial history for the past three years to determine eligibility.

A pre-arranged funeral, properly pre-funded in an Irrevocable Trust Fund, will lower a persons assets, while preserving the funds for use at the time of death, easing the burdens of survivors both emotionally and financially.
